Korg SDD 3000

The SDD 3000 quickly became a classic unit amongst guitarists and engineers alike. Thanks to world famous guitarist "The Edge" this piece of gear is now one of the most sought after effect units till this day. It combines superb audio specs, long delay time and programming versatility. It featured 9 different user changeable programs an expanded modulation section, 4 position low and high cut feedback filtering and 3 positions for the input and output attenuation.

The Echoplex

The Echoplex hardware boxes employed an infinite tape loop combined with a sliding record head, allowing the user to set the desired delay length. The endless tape loop is housed in the white cartridge in the photo above. The tape is a special self-lubricated formula and is wound in the cartridge with the oxide facing out. This approximately seventy-five foot tape travels clockwise around both the cartridge and tape deck. It exits the inside of the loop through the diagonal slit in the cartridge and heads into the white plastic reversing idler wheel on the right. The Echoplex wasn't notable just for the delay, but also for the sound; it is still a classic today.

MXR Flanger / Doubler

In the late ’70s, MXR was one of the pioneers at the forefront of the digital wave. By the time it ventured into the realm of rackmount processors, MXR already owned a huge share of the stompbox effect market. Musicians and engineers have relied upon the MXR Flanger/Doubler as one of best-sounding bucket-brigade flanging effects ever made.Through its signature flanging, doubling, and delay effects, the MXR Flanger/Doubler imprints a unique stamp on guitars, bass, keys, drums, or any source in need of movement and depth.

Roland RE-201 Space Echo Tape Delay

Created by Roland in 1973, The RE-201 is a simple system in which a small loop of tape records an incoming signal and immediately plays the recorded sound back over a couple playback heads before being erased by new incoming audio. The Space Echo can provide warm, and highly tweakable echo effects. It has been used by Portishead, Fatboy Slim, Dust, Jean Michel-Jarre, Bob Marley, Vangelis, Sneaker Pimps, Future Sound of London, KISS, Sublime, Radiohead and many more.

Eventide Eclipse

The Eclipse V4 is the baby model of the Harmonizer family, but still boasts the same class‑leading harmoniser algorithms, plus a wealth of other powerful and impressive effects programs. With its 1U, rack mounting the Eclipse is half the size of the H3000‑series units, but boasts five times the processing power and double the feature count! However, while today's Eclipse looks identical to the model reviewed 10 years ago. Internal processing power is still more than sufficient to accommodate upgraded firmware (V4.01) . As with the original Eclipse, the current version has a dual‑engine processor capable of running two separate and completely independent stereo effects at the same time, and configured to operate either in series or in parallel.
